- "As a first generation cattle producer, starting late in life, on leased, worn out row-crop land... I find this documentary series to be the single most important piece of film making that I have ever experienced. It is PROFOUNDLY important, instructive and entertaining. Peter Byck is a superhero whos hard work and creative genius is making a huge impact on seemingly intractable problems. "

β DAVE - USA - "I am not a farmer, though after watching Roots So Deep I wish I was. I am so moved by the way the data was collected and reported, with rigor and compassion. It brings hope and real world experience that can be applied by small and large farmers everywhere. And as almost a by-product a potentially huge part of mitigating climate change just by revitalizing our soil. I hope this film is seen far and wide. Thank you and fantastic job!"

β Michael - USA - "I cannot express how much this documentary gave me. After following Carbon Cowboys on Instagram for months, I expected to be happy about the data on improved soil health and improved meat quality and some other things but this was absolutely TRANSFORMATIVE and it gave me more hope than I have had in years. Simply priceless. Thank you, thank you, thank you. "

β Louise - USA - "I've watched this series 4 times now, and I cry every time. I had no idea just how much burden I've carried through the years, feeling like modern humans were parasites on this earth; feeling bad about just being alive and doing my best to minimize my footprint with conserving resources and hoping to die before it all crumbles (I'm 68 right now). Regenerative Ag, AMP, learning that the cycle of life, the water cycles, carbon cycles, ecology... this has been so HEALING and invigorating. I cry in empathy, I cry in releasing so much despair. It's the difference between being motivated through fear versus being motivated through love. Thank you all for helping to put more love in motion. I have shared this documentary within my small social networks and I pray that it is seen worldwide to touch and motivate as many as possible. Thanks again."

β Marilee - USA - "I LOVED this documentary- so good I've been telling everyone about it! It gives me so much hope for the world I was holding back the tears for most of the 4th episode. I hope everyone can watch this- especially all the farmers. Thankyou for making it. There's nothing I'd change- the way you had so much compassion and understanding for farmers and never made anyone feel like they were doing wrong. I love you got funding from the worst polluters- I hope they change their ways and put their millions towards a better world π"

β Helen - UK - "I love how Peter (and team) sought and found Common Ground amongst all the stakeholders. This is the type of science-based, yes, but also human work that will result in meaningful change. Peter shows what can happen when people put aside their differences, find common ground, and then do the hard work. Plus the film is very well done and just a joy to watch."

β Chad - USA - "Amazing, invigorating, hopeful, positive, and a great representation of humanity. I know this is about carbon and healthy soil, but I was drawn to the human aspect of this. I have so much respect for the farmers. Their openness to listening and discussing different ways of doing things but at the same time a great respect to those who had done the work before them. This is how we evolve as a human race. We are only here because of those before us putting in the work of how they knew best. It's not a right wrong, it's are we open to change. "

I appreciate all the hard things everyone in this film did to make this essential change to our food system happen. I hope it snowballs like Cooper said. I mostly appreciate Peter Byck for having the fire of inspiration and hope burning with kindness every step of the way. You are a beacon of light in a worry weary world. "

β Lorraine - Canada - "Roots So Deep is a wonderfully constructed and fair docu-series highlighting the importance of a holistic land management mindset and the ecological and socioeconomic benefits of working with natural processes. The insights gained from the research and interviews will prove invaluable in starting the conversation of how land managers choose to steward the land under their care. Ultimately, Roots So Deep proves that common ground can be found among all walks of life, and the free exchange of science-based regenerative practices/knowledge will contribute to the betterment of all living beings. I highly recommend and encourage all who watch this film to share the information learned and take whatever actions personally available to create the shift of culture, mindset, and practice for humane, regenerative, life-promoting, complexity-building, ecosystem resiliency forming agricultural/livestock practices to become the expected norm. "

β MB - USA - "I am a cattle rancher in southern Brazil, in the Pampa region, and I was absolutely fascinated by the documentary! It is totally changing my way to think... cattle here was always managed in really large fields, and very unproductive... we have a lot of problems with erosion and droughts, wich happen very frequently... Now I`m focus of finding more about AMP and it`s variations, reading some literature and I`ll try to find out if I find something similar being applied here in Brazil, or in Uruguay (wich has a very similar enviroment to our natural grasslands). Thank you for making the documentary! It might have changed my life hehe Hope it does! If you have any hints on how I could begin my journey, I`d appreciate it. Sincerely, Vincenzo Maciel"

I have an 11 acre homestead farm near Asheville NC and have been doing rotational grazing with my heritage Milking Devons for 13 years. I am a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner and know the necessity of nutrient dense food for robust health and there is no better way to get the results we need for the people, the livestock, the wildlife, the land and all while positively and significantly affecting climate change than AMP Grazing the cows! Hallelujah for this awesome work! I'm sharing this documentary with others! Blessings!"

Finally finished watching the whole series. Every episode is so inspirational and educational but when you get to Episode 4 I was literally standing alone in my kitchen applauding and getting choked up. My husband grew up on a small conventional farm in Kansas and my daddy was a potato farmer in Florida. I am so inspired to see this movement take wings and bring life back to our soils, our animals and birds, and of course, humans. It is time we make stewardship of the soil the highest priority (and everything else will follow). Loved every minute of this and will be sharing it with many others."

β Micah - USA - "Very surprised and impressed. I am late to seeing this although I have known about it for some time. The same problems in farming clearly transcend borders, a lot of what has been discussed would also apply here in Ireland. Debt, the courage or reluctance to change ones mind, lack of good examples to promote change in the area and the public perception of Agriculture. This series will help with a lot of this....well done Peter!"

Your movie is full of so much hope, I teared up many times watching it. And it honestly has me thinking, Could I be a farmer? Would I like it? Could I be profitable? And those ponderances only started while watching this series of hope. Thank you. "

We have been implementing on a very small scale- 5.5 acre homestead (1 mill cow, 1 heifer future milk cow, 1 steer, 1 calf, 1 goat, chickens in chicken tractors) but we have no one to ask questions. Biggest right now- do we mow the weeds that are left standing?!? Wish we had a mentor⦠Again, thank you so much. We will be watching it multiple times in the month that we have the rental."

β Tanya - Canada - "I enjoyed the preview in Missouri and seeing the whole thing now did not disappoint. We have been using these principles for 2 1/2 years now in Oklahoma and we were pretty sure it was working, but this study proves what we thought was happening. How do we move forward? I'm not sure someone who doesn't know about this would pay $20. Is there a way that you could allow gifts to be given? For example, I would be glad to pay $10 to be able to send this series to someone who might not watch it if they had to pay $20 because they don't understand what they were getting. I think it would hook a lot of people."

β Matthew - USA - "I'm not a farmer, nor an ecologist, environmentalist, economist or anything. But I've always been interested in seeing how things are done. The recent (relatively) movement to say how bad farming is, and how they don't care, didn't make sense. I've seen them call out scientists to figure out their soil properties. Row-croppers buy extremely expensive equipment with super accurate GPS and use fertilizer prescriptions all so they can use less, and make their land better. You can't tell me they don't care. What they may not know, is the better way. Your videos are that. or at least the start. I hope you keep going, and continue to follow up on those that are changing. Get that number out too, how many are doing the AMP grazing this year vs the past. No one wants to feel alone or first, that would help. Great job, can't wait to hear more."

β Adam - UK - "As a climate practitioner raised and educated in the Northwest, I've always been fascinated to find the ideological overlaps between urban and rural communities regarding climate adaptation. I now live in Taos, NM and after seeing Ray Archuleta speak with some friends working with goats for landscape restoration, I was hooked on AMP. Peter Byck's perspective, humanity, transparency, and intention are such a gift and model. Not only is this the best illustration of the scientific method in the field that I've seen on screen, showing the difficulty and importance of anecdotal ground-sourced evidence and funding decisions, but the storytelling is profound. This topic touches on so many vital aspects of our current culture. This project has not just an incredible potential for environmental impact, but for social, political, cultural, and philosophical impact too. Thank you for doing it, and for doing it so well. "

I somehow stumbled into your clips on Instagram and over a month or two have steadily fallen down a rabbit hole of searching and researching more, until the whole series was made available via your website. It is terribly exciting to learn of solutions that have such numerous and varied upsides. First and foremost, it is so nice to hear this story of overwhelmingly optimistic good news. In creating this series you may have had farmers first in mind, as I know you have held roadshow screenings around the nation. I am not connected to agriculture in any meaningful way, and find these stories incredibly compelling (I can't stop telling people about AMP, in fact). I found the social media clips that you've posted from the series to be particularly good at quickly and clearly conveying the basics, and inspiring a viewer into wanting to know more. I wondered if any thought had been given to the creation of a shorter 90 minute feature that might be more consumable as an introduction to those who have had no exposure to AMP at all. I am guessing that in fact, considerable consideration has been given to such an idea, and there were myriad reasons that you have taken the route you have. In watching the series I could certainly see a single film that could be cut from the existing footage and might do well on streaming platforms. Just a thought I kept having. Thank you for the years and years of work you have put into this documentary and study, and congratulations on all your success! (Heard Peter on KCRWs Good Food just recently) All the best!"

I am a scientist however and I have never felt comfortable with the amount of blame and hatred that gets thrown at conventional farmers. This is accessible and beneficial to anyone who is willing to watch and listen. I wish I had a way of practicing this myself, but donating is the best thing I can do. "

β Nate - USA - "THANK YOU!!! I am 58 and I have been worried about climate change for most of my adult life. I recently started seeing your shorts on YouTube and eagerly awaited the release of your documentary. All of the farmers were so inspiring: especially as the conventional ones saw the way they could do better. It's clear they all loved their lands and their herds. I don't have kids, but I still want to get this film and info into the hands of the Ag teachers in our high schools. If you had postcards in your store, I would buy them and send them out to the schools where my coworkers send their kids here in Clay County FL or Sauk County WI where my sisters kids go to school. Or even a pdf I could print myself would be cool. No reason to send more junk that has to be recycled! Thank you again for the research, for the excellent film making, for the HOPE you given me. Next thing to fix: Factory Pig and Chicken farms =^_^= PEACE be with you, Julie"

The whole time I watched this documentary I just kept thinking to myself, I'm so happy that some of the short videos on YouTube for Roots so Deep, came across my feed. I thought it was the right amount of data and conversations with people that are doing the work and already benefiting from the outcome of AMP farming. Just a great job all around. I have spread the word about these videos to friends that have farms/hobby farms already. I hope this documentary gets the recognition it deserves and millions of people watch it. "

β Dwaine - Canada - "Great Experiment, I think from a farmers point of view the water retention is the most important thing as we start to see more droughts in summertime. It would have been nice to see more about the DM of grass per ha each farmer was growing and the difference in stocking rates, if the AMP grazers had higher or lower stocking rates. Also if the soil PH was different across the farms, were AMP grazers still using lime? And the time input, how much extra labour it takes for paddock planning and moving. Great work though, are you looking to do any studies in England? We are looking at taking on some land that has been conventionally grazed and in my opinion over grazed. It would be great if we could measure how much we improve the soil and how much carbon we add. John and Eden Lancashire Lamb Boxes"

β Tyler - USA - "Amazing to see the entire film end to end as I've been watching the journey unfold the last couple of years. It added much more emotional connection through the entire film vs seeing some of the short form content on IG and YT. Lastly, I'd love to see continued exploration into the use of native plants vs non-native ranges and their impact the metrics covered. I feel confident that amp grazing and use of native plants would show better results over amp with non-native, so think that is another valuable point to make as we continue to steward our land. Thanks! "

β Carter - USA - "I really enjoyed this documentary. I thought the comparison of AMP farms and conventional farms was balanced and no skewed. I'd love to see this research done throughout the country in different growing environments to prove to farmers this truly can be done anywhere (with some differences depending on location surely). This is exactly what farmers need to hear and see the proof of WHY this is so important and why it's worth switching management systems. I was pleased to see so many lightbulb moments (for the conventional farmers) that made them ask more questions and to keep digging. I appreciated the amount of time and dedication this project took to make sure the data was precise and accurate. Well done, highly recommend for all farmers and all consumers! Also really like the title!"

β Darcie - USA - "Hi Peter, Please don't post this review without checking in. I might word it differently for public reading. Thanks for your work on grazing systems. I've been waiting for this to be released for streaming and rented it right away. It's easy to see why this ended up being 4 episodes and I'm sure lots of stories were left out to get it that short. I watched it 3 or 4 times. After watching this I went out and got an infiltrometer and took measurements on my parents farm. I thought we were doing pretty good but the measurements showed otherwise... We are in Lancaster County Pennsylvania and it seems like these nation wide movements have passed us by in terms of impact. Partially because we were already doing some of the stuff but in many ways we are still destroying our soil. Anyways, I recommended this series on my mailing list (around 500) once but I hesitate to really push them to watch it for a few reasons. First is language, While I know the use of superlatives (frick etc) is common and you were filming real life people, Peter as the story teller certainly had choice of what to say. It just seems to me like from the title (Roots So Deep should have been adequate by itself.) the whole way there there was an intention effort to stay edgy on language. Second is that it is 4 sessions with no shorter option. This is great for people who either have time to shoot and are already going to watch something or for people who are already interested in farming and soil health enough to watch a movie about it. But I'm sharing with a lot of people who either don't watch movies, care about soil health, or care about climate change. The message is just as important for them but I can't convince them to pay a $20 rental and watch 4 hours for something they don't care about at all. If you can swing it for future documentaries, do a Hobbit introduction to the LOTR and then write the Silmarilian etc to surround it. and do that with pricing too. Make a low bar/cost entry point single film that gets people hooked and then offer the bigger package for the convinced and offer the extended version with tons of additional detail for the fanatics. That let's people choose anything from the toe dip to the high dive. This issue also prevents me from watching it together with friends. I don't want to pay $20 for a one evening showing. And I don't want to show just the first episode since I'm most passionate about the results. But I don't want to just show the results because it doesn't set enough stage. I know it's hard to put it into one but I think it's important have that option for beginner exposure. Anyways, clearly I love your film or I wouldn't have taken the effort to write so much. Peter has a beautiful way of relating with and building bridges to people with lots of different ideals. Great job. There is much good to be learned there. The display and conversation of the human condition and the real life challenges of farming and research was good. I'd like to see a future film where the narrative is taken the whole way from soil health to public health. Healthy farmers and climate change are good but I think that linking in the medical profession and public health results of soil health could really be the next level. There's quite a bit of nutrition data becoming available so hopefully that could all be directly tied together. Also, as mentioned before, it would be great to have some work done in south central PA and covering some other parts of regenerative farming in addition to grazing. Here in PA the land prices are such that an operation that only has one enterprise such as cattle probably got their farm as inheritance or is paying for it by working somewhere else. Farms that pay for themselves in our area need a tall stack of enterprises to survive. I think one of the most powerful lines you had wasn't in the film. In one of the interviews you said something like, I started this journey as a climate activist and became an advocate for farmers. This idea connects strongly in our community. Thanks"
